NOTE: There is an opportunity to renew or become a TEACH member on the registration form.

The Graduate Recognition Ceremony is FREE
and open to the public, and there is no limit to the number of guests -- although we would appreciate a rough estimate for planning puposes.

The intent of this ceremony is to not only recognize the accomplishments of the graduate, but to allow him or her to express gratitude to all those who have invested in their life up to that point.
It can also be a wonderful testimony to the excellence of homeschooling, as well as provide encouragement to those considering or just beginning their homeschool journey.

Here's what one mom had to say...

"We attended our first TEACH Convention intending just to try homeschooling for kindergarten. As we left the graduation, we decided -- 'We're homeschooling!'... this year our oldest is attending that same graduation, as a graduate."    S.T.

So we encourage you to invite not just friends and family of the graduate, but anyone who you think would be encouraged to witness the wonderful results of homeschooling!

Stafford/Somers/Ellington/Tolland area boys 10-14ish hang-out time

Passing this along from Shelley Wurst, please see below for contact info.......

Get together for boys 10-14yrs
Connor's Place playground
Field Rd in Somers
Thursday, May 2, from 1pm - 3pm.

Please feel free to come with your boys (and any siblings of either sex and any age), and have them bring whatever they'd like to do -- there are ball fields, a basketball court, a covered pavillion with picnic tables in addition to the playground, so really anything goes. We moms will meet in the pavillion area and try to figure out what it is we/our boys would like to see with a group(s) like this -- it's possible that the group will divide by ages/interests/availability/compatibility/location, so if Thursday afternoons are just impossible for you yet you'd like your son involved, please drop me an email with what DOES work for you, and I'll keep your needs/desires in mind while we chat.

My general plan is to provide various sorts of hang-out opportunities for the boys to get acquainted and comfortable with each other, as a springboard for friendships to form as they will. A rough idea of what I have in mind would be a once a month park date, a once a month hike date, a once a month activity/outing (mini-golf, bowling, movies, museums, etc), and a once a month games type get together (board games or organized games or card games or video games or whatever the boys want and works for them). The boys could pick and choose which activities they'd like to be involved in and how often. This is only an outline of what I think could work -- it will of course depend on what everyone else wants to do. The only goal I have is for my boys to get to spend time with other homeschooled boys their age.

Please feel free to write with any questions! The age is just a guideline -- if you have a mature 9 yr old or a 15 or 16 year old that would rather hang with younger kids, that's fine too! And siblings of any age are welcome. Also, if you are not from the Stafford/Somers/Ellington/Tolland area but don't mind driving to come hang out with us, you are absolutely welcome and encouraged to come!

I will write again with just the basic info as the date approaches -- in the meantime, if you know you plan on being there, or would like to but can't make it that particular day, shoot me a quick note at collieherd@cox.net with your boys' name(s) and age(s), and I'll put together a rough list of whom we might expect to show up that day. :)
