We are going to have gorgeous weather for our first Stafford area Boys 10-14 yrs hang-out! And it sounds like we're expecting a pretty good turn-out. All homeschoolers with boys in this age range (or close), plus any age/gender

When: Thursday, May 2, 1:00 - 3:00 pm
Where: Connor's Place Playground, Field Rd, Somers, CT
Who: Homeschool families with boys in the 10-14 (ish) age range (siblings welcome as well).
What to bring: Anything the boys are interested in bringing to do. There are ball fields, a basketball court, a playground, and a pavilion with picnic tables, so anything goes. Parents may want to bring chairs or blankets to sit on while we chat.
Agenda: For this first get-together, the parents will meet in the vicinity of the pavilion so we can get to know each other and discuss what we're looking for in a group like this. The boys can do whatever they'd like while we chat.
My general goal is to provide a time for our tween/early teen boys to get to know each other and have some fun hanging out, make connections with others with similar interests, and hopefully spawn some friendships. My initial idea is to have something along the lines of a once a month park day, a once a month hike, a once a month activity/outing (museums, bowling, mini-golf, movies, etc), and a once-a-month games day, and the boys can pick and choose which hang-out times they want to attend -- but that's just an idea to get things rolling, what actually happens will depend on the boys and what they want. The group may splinter into several smaller groups based on interests, location and/or availability, with occasional larger outings for all.
Come to the park tomorrow to discuss the possibilities and hang out. :)
